The Year of Shedding: Reflecting on 2025 and Creating Intentional Momentum for 2026

The Year of Shedding: Reflecting on 2025 and Creating Intentional Momentum for 2026

December 31, 202510 min read

As we close out 2025, I wanted to take a moment in this solo episode of The EmPOWERed Half Hour to pause, reflect, and honor everything this year has held.

In this final episode of the year, I share my personal reflections on 2025 as a year of shedding, transformation, and recalibration, both personally and professionally. I open up about the evolution of my work, the growth of the podcast, hitting the global top ten percent, and the behind-the-scenes transformation of my leadership and training programs. Through this reflection, I explore why letting go of what no longer serves is often uncomfortable, yet necessary, for clarity, alignment, and expansion.

I also give a preview of what’s coming in 2026, including more teaching focused on trauma-informed leadership, nervous system regulation, burnout prevention, and practical tools you can apply directly to your life and leadership.

If 2025 felt heavy, painful, or like a season of constant change, I hope this conversation reminds you that shedding is not loss… it is preparation.

Reflection as a practice:
Why slowing down to review 2025 reveals the gold hidden in every experience.

The power of shedding:
How releasing what no longer serves creates space for clarity, lightness, and transformation.

Alignment before expansion:
Why getting focused and intentional matters more than doing more.

Leadership through regulation:
How trauma-informed leadership and nervous system awareness change the way we lead and live.

Vision with purpose:
Why reflecting on where you are helps clarify where you are meant to go next.

You are the author:
How recognizing your agency allows you to write a new chapter at any moment.

Becca Powers: Well, hello and welcome to the last episode of the Empowered Half Hour for 2025. I am here just doing a solo episode. Why? Well, because there's a lot to reflect on. I mean, you're probably wrapping up the year too, thinking about what went well, what could be different next year. I know so many of us start thinking of our goals and what's important to us and what we would like to see and what we would like to improve.

All of that is super important, and it's also super important to reflect on the year, you know, 2025. What was it for you? Take a moment to think about it. What were some of the highlights? What were some of the things that went sideways? I know a lot of stuff went sideways and I'll talk about that here in a second.

And from the stuff that went sideways, what did you learn from it? These are such important questions to ask ourselves because when we don't, we don't get the chance to discover what the gold in everything that we experience is. And if we don't slow down to ask ourselves questions and do this discovery of reflection, we miss the gold and the things that happened in this past year.

So what happened? My world in 2025, I would love to talk to you about it. So 2025 was a great year for tea time and for those of you that follow the show and the social media, we always say Tea Time. And the reason we do that is because the acronym for the Empowered Half Hour is TEHH, which could be Teh, but I thought tea was a lot cooler than Teh.

So here we are with tea time and, you know, the whole world needs some positivity. I am really proud of this podcast and proud of you for listening and staying committed. I don't know that I shared this on social media yet, but I'll definitely share it with you. In reflection of 2025, the podcast hit global top 10% a couple of months ago.

Thank you so much for being part of our community and our weekly or biweekly listenership. It really means a lot, and it does mean that positivity is getting spread out into the world each time you listen and share. So really appreciate you this year. We had some great guests. I had a blast interviewing everybody. We had conversations around fulfillment and loss, alignment, positivity, mindset, and pushing back, and so many good conversations. If you didn't catch all the episodes this year, I would definitely rewind and take a listen because we had some really wonderful experts and guests on and we cracked open a lot of transformation, which is always something I love to do on the show.

Personal and Professional Growth

Professionally with the business, it was a year of shedding and transformation. A couple of weeks ago, I was getting my nails done and I was talking to my nail tech and I said, "God, this year was so painful. Not that it was bad, but it was just painful." It was like things that were maybe steady, like in my life, whether it was a person, a situation, or a routine that was 10 years solid, now are shifting, evolving, or gone. And I thought, "Whoa, that's really weird. Why does everything feel like it's shedding?"

Then she said, "That's because it's the year of the snake, and the year of the snake is only going to benefit the people that show up and let the year get shed." And that is going to allow huge transformation for 2026 and beyond. If your year felt painful and you felt like you were shedding a lot, it was the year of the snake. I don't know much about it, but I trust what she said, and then I talked to other people about it and they all said the same things.

Take that, do some research, but if you have felt like you have been shedding a lot, you're probably right on time with the rest of us.

Before the business, it was a really cool year. If you have been with me a long time, you know that I am an author and a keynoter, also a business owner. My business partner, Lyne, has been on the show quite a few times. We’ve run a personal and professional training company where we develop leaders into coaches so that they can be more of a coach within their business, really guide performance from a lens of nervous system regulation, and get true results.

We have been working this entire year to make the programs more accessible, more easy to do outside of your organization. We did a lot of corporate delivery, working with Fortune 500 accounts. The good news is that going into 2026, you'll see a lot more programs made for you to join virtually.

What you can expect in 2026:

  • Trauma-Informed Leadership Coaching Certification available for two cohorts. If you want to level up your leadership with a trauma-informed nervous system approach and heighten your coaching skills, pay attention to the show and our social media.

  • Two-day intensive called the Regulated Leader, where you can learn regulation tools for yourself and your team.

For 2025, we spent a lot of time in our body of work to serve our customers in many ways. It took a lot of reflection to shed what wasn't necessary. We really needed to be okay with getting hyper-focused, and I think it's going to pay off really big. From a mission standpoint, Lyne and I have this vision that through our work, we will change the collective consciousness of leadership in corporate America.

Have you reflected on what you're doing? Is it aligned to where you want to go? If not, what do you need to shed to make it aligned? Are you willing to shed it? There is a lot of attachment to the things we do. I highly recommend you go through this process.

The podcast will continue to bring you awesome experts, leaders, coaches, authors, all with high-quality content. Biweekly interviews will continue to give you empowerment, wisdom, ahas, awareness, and extra motivation.

You'll also see more bonus episodes and solo teaching episodes from me. I want to bring more teaching about trauma-informed leadership principles and nervous system regulation. We'll get tactical while keeping interviews empowering and on brand. Lyne will join me to discuss the seven principles of trauma-informed leadership and frameworks to prevent burnout.

The theme for 2026 will be regulation and being revived.

Gratitude and Reflection

Thank you for your listenership. When we hit global top 10%, I was over the moon. Thank you, and I wish you a wonderful ending to 2025. Please take the time to reflect, accept the gift of shedding, and lighten your load. We can let in radiance and new possibilities, and what better time than the start of a new year to do that.

Give yourself the gift of shedding, the gift of reflection, and the gift of calling in what you want.

You are the author of the Book of your life, and every single day you get the chance to write a new page and start a new chapter. That in itself is empowering. If you truly knew that you were the author of your book of life and could dictate the characters, directions, and outcomes, what would you do differently?

You are the author of your book of life. Make it magical, make it wonderful. I’ll see you next year.
